35W Bride

I waited until I heard that everyone in my family and circle of friends was safe before posting anything regarding the tragedy in Minneapolis. It still feels so surreal. I couldn't get through on the phone lines last night but talked to everyone this morning and was relieved to hear they are all safe.

If you have not heard, the bridge near Washington on 35 that crosses the Mississippi collapsed last night. Over 100,000 vehicles travel that bridge each day. I thought about all the times that I drove that road complaining about traffic or the vehicle in front of me. Then you hear about the countless acts of heroism where people were running from car to car pulling people out of the vehicles saving lives and you think - that car that I was complaining about could be the angel that possibly would have saved my life if I was there. I thought about my family and friends who work down in that area, uncertain of their safety, and how difficult it is to understand God's plan sometimes. Alex and I watched the news flipping back and forth from the Twin's game. I thought about all of the people at the Medrodome who heard the news but had to idea of the terrible scene that was occurring outside. I thought about the players who had a job to do, but many of them live in Minneapolis so they had to be concerned for their own family and friends. Alex and I talked about the school bus full of children who miraculously all survived, but how scared and anxious they and their families must feel.

There are so many questions and unofficial reports currently circling. We don't know how many injuries and casualties have occurred and we probably won't know for awhile. Lets all keep the city, victims, survivors, and families in our prayers. Minneapolis is one of the greatest cities in my opinion and I'll always consider it home.

Farty Pants!

No - this is not 6-year-old humor day, this is a serious invention that is featured on Trend Hunter.com! I was so happy after reading that Dolce & Gabbana's line for 2008 - all about animal prints, but then I read about the flatulence loving granny panties. There has been some talk regarding underwear on other blogs - so here's my PSA for the day!

These sexy fruit of the looms have a built in replaceable filter made of felt, charcoal, and fiberglass wool to ease the stink bomb (Alex terminology) from reaching the noises of your neighbors.

Wait - you haven't heard the best part!! The slogan - wear them for the ones you love

They are available in men's women's and plus sizes and can be worn anytime - in bed, to work, and social events....

Keith Urban Concert

What a fun weekend! I drove to Omaha for the Keith Urban concert with a friend of mine which was a very last minute surprise. We left around 3:00ish on Saturday, walked around the Old Market, had a few drinks and cheered on the Minnesota Twin's, had dinner at the Upstream, and walked over to the concert. I appoligize for the terible pictures, but they were taken on my cell phone camera. We were right next to the stage, third row so needless to say, our seats were amazing!

Keith kept looking at me asking "Where's Kerrie?" (sorry, had to add to the delusion!) After the concert, we walked downtown and had a drink at Dublin's bar which is this Irish bar that had a two piece band. I looked like a drowned rat by the time we left because I hadn't sat still for a minute. The Old Market is a gorgeous area but the fashion - hmmm. How many guys in long sleeved blue & white shirts with Gap shorts can you see in one area? A ton apparently!!! Anyway, we got home LATE and I slept most of the Sunday away.

I'm in a blogging template funk right now - sort of feels like I'm a bit schizo. I haven't been posting much lately because this week = finals week! Yuck yuck yuck!

Joe Mauer - homerun hottie

Just in case you missed the Twin's game on Saturday, I thought I would post Joe Mauer's IN THE PARK homerun!!! WOWZA - that almost never happens!! I just stood up to run to the bathroom when I heard the bat crack. I stopped in my tracks and turned around to see the ball going, going, going...nope not gone but Joe was!!! The crowd went nuts - high fives all around. The picture from LAA wouldn't even pitch to the next batter until Joe Mauer waved his had to the crowd. Everyone was one their feet. Way to go Joe!

We had a wonderful weekend in the cites this past weekend. I am so fortunate to have an amazing family. I didn't get to see everyone, but it wasn't because I didn't want to or I don't miss them terribly. It's just that my aunt JoEllen is a better cook. HA - I'm just kidding.

Alex and Uncle Jerry taking a cruise

A picture of Alex and I before the Twin's game in our Twin's gear

My girlfriend Steph with Alex before the game. We drove downtown early to spend some time at the park drinking the Metrodome's (aka - giant marshmallow or giant toilet bowl) finest $6.50 glasses of tap beer

Go Twin's!!!
We had brunch with uncle Terry on Sunday at Al Baker's in Eagan before the musical. It was so nice to see him and meet the newest member of the family - Finnegan the shizapoo. Sorry, but no pictures of Finnegan, Terry or the play since I forgot batteries for my camera. High School Musical was wonderful though. We had excellent seats and Alex got to get up and dance with the cast and snatch a balloon that "Troy Bolton" threw into the audience. I can't believe the marketing and memorabilia that goes along with these plays now! Action figures, board games, sweat bands and uno cards. Yes, I'm guilty of buying the Uno card game for Alex but oh well.
